The Society's First Telescope Meeting, 23rd March 2006

The society held its first Telescope Meeting on the evening on 23rd March 2006. This was a special meeting organised in addition to the regular lecture series and was aimed specifically as discussing telescopes and observing the night sky. Around 12 members and guests were present to see a variety of instruments. Special thanks to all those individuals who contributed equipment and items for display and to Alf Petty for the photographs.

The highlight of the evening was the society's 12" Dobsonian telescope which, astonishly, collapses down and fits in the back of Ron's MG Metro.

Simon Murray's Coronado Solar Telescope. Simon also brought along some of his stunning photographs taken with this and other instruments in his collection.

The Joe Mackie Telescope - The society's 5" Maksutov.

Ron, Paul and John discuss the benefits of smaller instruments for Grab 'n' Go astronomy.
